Happy New Year from Actual Agency! To close out 2024 and gear up for a successful 2025, our team gathered in Nashville, Tennessee, for an inspiring three-day retreat with our sister agencies, Bolt PR and Warner PR. Millwright Holdings, our parent company, hosted the retreat, which provided a unique opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn in person—something especially meaningful for our remote-first teams.
Light snowfall welcomed us to our first night in Nashville, which surprised us all. Thankfully, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken kept us warm! During our time at Hattie’s, our teams enjoyed a delicious assortment of Southern food. The night ended with a fun Hot Chicken Challenge that revealed the strengths and weaknesses of our tastebuds. Luckily, the Challenge came with ice cream, free swag apparel for those brave souls who could eat the spiciest hot chicken, and a memory to cherish.
The next day, we got down to business for a full day of working sessions focused on agency growth. To kick it off, we had the opportunity to participate in a Millwright “AMA” fireside chat where the floor was open to ask our fearless leaders, CEO and Founder Michael Young and Group President Erin Vadala, anything we were curious about or interested in learning more about the company or our agencies.
Next, team members from all three agencies joined cross-agency working groups (Agency Growth, Employee Experience, and Client Experience) to present implementable ideas and strategies to drive agency growth, enhance workplace culture, and improve new client onboarding. In true Shark Tank fashion, each team fielded questions and received constructive feedback to refine their ideas and outline tangible next steps for the year ahead.
Later that evening, to celebrate our efforts and hard work, we all dressed in our best holiday attire for a night of fine dining at the Millwright Holdings holiday party at Giovanni’s Restaurant. We indulged in custom agency-themed cocktails and a delicious menu of authentic Italian cuisine.
Day three, which wrapped up the retreat, was a day of reflection, connecting with our agency teams, and preparing for safe travels back to our remote work homes. Our CEO walked us through his vision to expand our international network in France, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Japan. He emphasized fostering connections between agency partners to amplify our impact as PR professionals. Feeling inspired, each agency held a final meeting before concluding the retreat and returning to our home offices, ready to tackle the year ahead.
